J is also for Jasmine ( Pagan Blog Project)

This weeks Pagan Blog Project Post

 Jasmine

I have chosen this flower as I intend to work with it soon all I need to do is actually buy some. On this weeks to do list promise! I want to do a charm from Pagan Pregnancy Arin calles it Swan charm for attuning to your unborn child. This charm is used to help strengthen a mothers conection to her unborn child. It also uses moonstone and the swan spirit guide. I thought that I would do a little research on Jasmine so that I fully understand what I am working with. I did plant some summer Jasmine in my mums garden with the intention of using it for such things that was before I moved out and a considrable distance away (bother) I know that there are two kinds Summer which is white and winter which is Yellow both are delicate scented flowers. I love it because for along time now my grandparents house has winter Jasmine growing round there front door and when there is little else in flower it is a welcome sight!

Winter Jasmine
I have used summer jasmine in draw saches with rose pettles and such, I have seen many recipies for jasmine in cosmetics and the nicest one I have seen is jasmine and milk. A recipe I wish to try is from Anna Franklins Heath witch The recipe is called Seventeenth Century Bath .

Ingredients
1 part roses, 1 part Orange peel, 1 part Orange Flowers, 1 part Jasmine Flowers, 1 part Bay Leaves, 1 part Rosemary, 1 part Mint.
Method
Cover ingredients with a little water, simmer together for 15 minutes, strain and add a cup of the water (I am assuming as the instructions dont say?) to your bath water. I have yet to experiment with this so I am not sure how long the finish product lasts but I will update on my blog when I do with photos and results!

Magical Properties

I dont want to go in to too much detail because I know that there is another blog on jasmine in this project but I know that white Jasmine is associated with the goddess and because summer is the most commonly used it is often colour associated with purity of spirit. In the charm I want to make it is beeing used to encourage prophetic dreams to conect with the unborn baby as untill its ready its soul remains in waiting and at birth it will be housed in its tiny little body in that all important first breath is when the transition is compleate. Other associations are wealth and money.

I will continue to add to this post as I continue to work with this flower, We are hoping to move to a bigger house with a garden and Jasmine is a plant that I feel is worth adding to the list of to get plants as it is a climber so will add hight and I love the smell of it too. I will dedicate this plant possibly to Kwan Yin as a mother goddess If you would like to read more about this plant I have already said last week there was another Jasmine blog in the pagan Blog Project 2012 links but also I have found this page which has far more than I have put on here simply because I wished to detail my own experience with this gentle plant Herb of the Season
