J is for Judgement (Pagan Blog Project 2012)

I thought that this was quite a thought provoking topic and I was right, this is quite a topic to think about. Judgement can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on point of view.

When thinking about Judgement I thought at first about all sorts of things such as the legal system and Justice. When I apply it to my magical life I then thought about self judgement and self rule and the energy that one puts into the world. I also thought of the Tarot Card Judgement and its interpretations. I also thought about Deities that might be associated with judgement such as Ma'at. So I have had to do some real research. It isnt being added to the PBP 2012 because I am late and its a trial run as it were.

The Judgement card

From the Guilded Tarot

The Judgement card often has associations with trumpet blowing Angels and the "Final day of Judgement" something that having been brought up Cof E I understand that all to well.On this day the dead stand before God and their sins weighed counted and forgiven before they move on to Heaven.  Its ruling element is fire. The ideas behind this card are rebirth and resurrection. The Judgement card is similar to the judgement day idea in that it asks us to resurrect the past, forgive it, and let it go. There are wounds from the past that we never let heal, sins we've committed that we refuse to forgive, bad habits we haven't the courage to lose. Judgement advises us to finally face these, recognize that the past is past, and put them to rest, absolutely and irrevocably. This is how I belive that judgement works in magic life as we are all trying to be more responsible people how we judge ourselves is important.

Though this is a simple idea the more I thought about it , the harder is became, as with many things there is two sides to this and it is subject to the person judging for exsample ; Self Judgement can be used possitively to help us move forward and grow as individuals but used negatively it can be used in self harm by judging ones self not worthy enough to have our dreams and thus holding ourselfs back from growth, moving forward and prosperity. This is a problem that I myself suffered from for along time and it takes alot of hard work and some huge changes in perspective for things to change.

I spent alot of time listing and using other peoples judgements of me creating a very low self esteam and some very damaging habbits that were hard to brake as it is a self perpetuating cycle once entered it takes alot to realise that how hard I was being on myself and how much I was hurting myself, and hiding from myself to.
