Holidays With Rowan

Introducing Rowan

Rowan is my little boy, he was born on the 2nd september 2012 and I thought that I would put a little page on about how we learn about the holidays and the changing of the wheel together. I thought that I could show him how I celebrate the year and then leave him to decide what he belives himself. I will not make him be a pagan like me but while he is young I intend to show him what I do and to enjoy nature in general. I intend to use Pookas pages  just because it explaines things really well and has lovely things to make and do.

Rowans first Samhain

At only two months old Rowan really couldnt get the importance of any celebration at the moment so we did lots of decorating and put spiders and such all round the house. He loves anything that is shiney and the pumpkin tinsil we put up was a big hit. He had his own little party with family all dressing up and we also watched some fire works. I spent some time looking at old photos with him and we are making an Ancestor tree. I hope that this is something that he will appreciate more when he is older. Samhain is also time for story telling so we read some stories and he looked at the big bright pictures I brought a book called the Snow Queen and other scary stories as an introduction to the stories that exsist today. We have lots of photos and we layed out a feast and had lots of candles light. We are looking forward to the next holiday YULE

Rowans First Yule

Rowan was three months at Yule. We have brought a tree to keep he likes the lights and decorations on the tree, I tried to keep a yule log but my partner burnt it because he didnt realise I was keeping it. He enjoyed his presants and we read Night Before Christmas. We decorated the house with fresh greens and had the fire burning leaving out christmas food for all the house spirits. He is much to young to understand anything at all be I am trying to get into some good habbits.

Rowans first Imbolc

Rowan and I light candles and his big half sister made butter with his help. We all went out walking looking for signs of spring and read the cute stories on Pookas pages. We did some colouring and I aim to make the game called light and dark. We are very much looking forward to the next holiday Easter

  1. I found you through the PBP and I love the idea of keeping notes on how you integrate your practice into your child's life! I'll be sure to look back and see what is new.
    and, I like your name.
