Faery Magick by Sirona Knight (reading challenge)

Faery Magick: Spells Potions and Lore from the earth spirits. By Sirona Knight.

This is quite a small book so it was quick to read, it was full of lovely stories and how to add Faery magick to just about any aspect of your craft. It also includes how to make your own Faery magical tools also. I will use some of the spells and crafts.

I intend to use some of the meditations and spells in this book and as I have quite an interest in Faerys anyway I know that I will find this book usefull as I get back into my routine. I give this book about 3 out of 5 its only so low because I feel that I would like more of it !

Things that I would like to use are

  • Brownie home spell
  • plant the faery flowers in pots
  • rose faery love blessing
  • musical faery wand
  • faery home basket
  • gardening with flower essences
  • faery garden picnic
  • faery dream pillow
  • faery glamoury bath
  • faery gold charm box
  • elf abundance spell
  • faery name spell
I will blog some of these! Depending on how well they work

A Witches' Bible (pagan reading Challenge)

A Witches' Bible : The compleate Witches' Handbook By Janet and Stewart Farrar

I must admit that I took a whole week to read this book as there is a fair bit to it. Though I did enjoy reading it as there is alot of things explained as I dont do much ceremonial magic and this is a good guide for the bigginer and the advanced alike as it has ideas for the different Sabbats etc and it gives a good insite to the workings of Garderian magic and it also has a brillient Bibliography. I have used to increase my reading list.

The book is devided into 2 halfs and makes it easier to read and understand the first book is about the Sabbats and other ritual basics and the seccond bit of the book is about ethics and verious aspects of the craft it is called The wiccan path. It is full of interesting ideas and things to think about. With a good reference list and ideas for further study.

I thought that this book was really usefull especially as a starting point for research on basic ideas of the craft in general.  I liked the freiendly way this book is written and the advise that is offered from two people who have considrable experience themselves they offer some sound advise but are not to pushy they except that everyone has there own ideas and paths they offer advise to avoid serious pitfalls but acept that everyone has there own mistakes to make. They are not preachy in anyway and have written the book simply to make information available so that a seeker can make informed desitions and more competent choises. It is an excellent book and I think that I may well use one of the chapters to help start off my winter research this year. I have had this book for ages and never read it properly so I wish to thank the reading challenges for giving me the insentive to do so.

Green Witchcraft by Ann Moura (Aoumiel) Reading Challenges

Green Witchcraft; Folk magick, Fairy Lore and herb craft. By Ann Moura (Aoumiel)

I loved this book, there are loads of ideas and things that I would like to use in this book, I have noticed that there are follow on books to get so I will try to read them also as they cover the green craft as a whole. The things in this book that I found most usefull was the Sabbat Ideas and stories. This book comes from a unique perspective as the writer tells about all the things that she learned from her mother and Grandmother and I found these fasinating and enritching as it showes how close knit belifes and ideas should become into everyday life, and a personal system.

Things that I hope to use
  • The sabbat information and rituals
  • The herb ideas and craft (I have started my own recipie and herb book like the author)
  • The Sabbat craft ideas
  • wiccaning/ presenting of baby
  • the moon gardening information
The next book is Green witchcraft II which hopefully I can get a copy of. Over all I give this book a 4 out of 5 it is easy to read and full of easy to do ideas and concepts that are appealing to my way of thinking. I did find it a little repetitive reading it from cover to cover though because the books gives full instructions for every ritual handy for a quick find as you have all the info in one spot.
